Chapter 17 – Vanessa Tells the Truth
When Vanessa entered the witness box, the courtroom fell silent.
She had accepted a plea agreement in exchange for truthful testimony.
"I pushed Khloe."
She looked directly at the jury.
"There is no excuse."
Tears rolled down her face.
"I was jealous."
"I believed Richard loved me."
She described everything.
The affair.
The offshore accounts.
The false promises.
The secret meetings.
Then she said the words Richard feared most.
"He talked about Khloe like she was an obstacle."
The prosecutor asked,
"Did he ever discuss what would happen if Mrs. Harrington refused the divorce?"
Vanessa nodded slowly.
"He said..."
She swallowed.
"...she wouldn't have much choice."
The courtroom remained silent.
