Chapter 13 - The Destination Nobody Was Supposed To FindThe train continued moving through the endless mountains.

The darkness outside the windows became deeper.
The reflection of everyone inside the cabin appeared on the glass.
Four faces.
Four different kinds of fear.
Ethan stared at the passing landscape.
He was trying to understand how his entire life had become a carefully designed illusion.
The family.
The wealth.
The reputation.
The respect.
Everything had been built on secrets.
And now those secrets were falling apart one by one.
“Where are we going?”
Ethan asked.
Nobody answered.
He turned around.
“I asked a question.”
Victoria remained silent.
Marcus looked toward the floor.
Charles slowly walked toward the window.
“We are heading toward the northern private terminal.”
Ethan frowned.
“What is there?”
Charles looked at Victoria.
“A place she never wanted anyone to discover.”
Victoria’s expression changed.
“Charles.”
But he continued.
“The old Sterling property.”
Ethan froze.
The old property.
Everyone in the family knew about it.
A mansion abandoned after his father’s death.
A place Victoria claimed was too painful to visit.
A place that had been closed for twenty years.
“Why are we going there?”
Charles answered.
“Because that is where the truth began.”
The words created a strange silence.
Clara looked terrified.
“No.”
Ethan turned toward her.
“What?”
She shook her head.
“We cannot go there.”
“Why?”
Clara’s breathing became faster.
“Because that place…”
She stopped.
Ethan moved closer.
“Clara.”
She looked at him.
“That was the last place I saw Dad alive.”
Everyone became silent.
Ethan felt his heart stop.
“What?”
Clara closed her eyes.
“I never told anyone.”
Victoria immediately stepped forward.
“You were eight years old.”
“You were confused.”
Clara looked at her.
“No.”
“I remember.”
Victoria’s face became cold.
“You remember what you wanted to remember.”
Clara shook her head.
“No.”
“I remember Dad arguing with you.”
“I remember him saying he found something.”
“I remember him telling you that he would go to the police.”
Ethan looked at Victoria.
Victoria’s expression became unreadable.
“And I remember…”
Clara’s voice broke.
“I remember you telling him he would regret betraying you.”
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.

The train continued forward.
Carrying them toward the place where everything started.
