Chapter 29 - The Sanctuary at Peace

That evening, The Sovereign Ground was bathed in the warm, amber glow of twilight. The coastal wind whispered softly through the pine trees, carrying the familiar, comforting scent of salt spray, cedar, and blooming lavender from the garden.

They sat together on the wide wooden deck, wrapped in light wool blankets, watching the stars emerge one by one over the dark, rolling expanse of the Atlantic. The heavy burdens of the day—the global policy calls, the construction walk-throughs, the endless legal strategies—dissolved entirely into the quiet rhythm of the evening.

"Do you ever look back and wonder how we survived it all?" Clara asked softly, resting her head against Madeline’s shoulder.

"I don't wonder about the fire anymore," Madeline replied, her gaze fixed on the infinite horizon where the sky met the sea. "Fire doesn't destroy steel, Clara. It tests it. It burns away everything weak, false, and imposed by others until all that remains is the pure, unyielding core."
