Chapter 6 - The Bachelorette Party from Hell (and Heaven): High Society Meets South Boston DivasYou haven't truly lived until your bachelorette party is hosted in a private, ultra-exclusive VIP lounge overlooking Boston Harbor, guarded by six men in tactical suits carrying submachine guns while your childhood friends from South Boston slam tequila shots with billionaire mafia associates.

Elena Valenti had initially suggested a quiet, elegant tea party in the conservatory.
My best friend from college, Sarah—who still worked in the catering industry and was currently managing our wedding menu—vetched that idea with extreme prejudice.
"Tea party? Absolutely not!" Sarah declared, raising a glass of champagne as neon lights flashed across the VIP booth. "Our girl is marrying the most feared man in New England! We are celebrating properly!"
Surrounded by flashing lights, incredible music, and endless laughter, I sat in a plush velvet booth wearing a stunning white silk cocktail dress, laughing until my ribs ached.
Across the table, some of Dominic’s most trusted capos and enforcers looked utterly terrified as Sarah aggressively taught them how to do modern line dancing.
The door to the private lounge clicked open, and Dominic walked in, flanked by two of his top advisors. He wasn't supposed to show up until midnight—tradition dictated the groom stayed away—but looking at the slight tension in his shoulders, I knew he couldn't stay away for long.
The moment he stepped into the room, the music seemed to quiet down. All eyes turned toward him, but Dominic didn't look at his men or the lavish venue.
His gray eyes locked immediately onto me. He walked straight through the crowd, ignoring the murmurs of respect from his enforcers, and stopped right in front of our booth.
"You're violating groom protocol," I teased, taking a sip of my sparkling water with a grin. "You're not supposed to see the bride the night before the wedding."
"Protocol be damned," Dominic murmured, his voice low and husky as he reached out, taking my hand and pulling me up out of the booth into his arms. "I missed you." The entire lounge went quiet, watching the feared underworld boss hold his bride-to-be with such raw, unreserved tenderness.
"You saw me four hours ago," I whispered, smiling against his chest. "Four hours too long," he replied, pressing a lingering kiss into my hair before looking up to address the room. "Carry on, everyone. But the bride is coming home with me now."
Cheers and catcalls erupted from Sarah and the rest of the party as Dominic scooped me up effortlessly into his arms, carrying me out of the club toward his waiting armored car.
As the cool Boston night air hit my face, I buried my face in his neck, knowing that no matter what storms lay ahead in our future, I was exactly where I belonged.
The snow fell in thick, silent flakes outside the massive stained-glass windows of Boston’s historic Trinity Church, turning the city into a postcard-perfect winter wonderland.
Inside, the sanctuary glowed with the warm, amber light of two thousand candles, reflecting off towering arrangements of white roses, silver-dusted branches, and cascading crystal ornaments.
Standing in the private holding room behind the altar, I stared at my reflection in the full-length mirror.
The dress Elena Valenti had pulled from the family vault was an absolute masterpiece—ivory Chantilly lace, long sheer sleeves embroidered with delicate silver thread, and a sweeping cathedral-length veil that trailed behind me like spun moonlight.
Resting on my left ring finger was the vintage emerald-and-diamond heirloom ring Dominic had given me.
There was a soft knock at the door, and Elena stepped inside. She looked breathtaking in a deep sapphire velvet gown, leaning gracefully on her silver-tipped cane as her sharp, intelligent eyes swept over me. Tears glistened faintly in the corners of her eyes.
"Magnificent," Elena whispered, walking over to adjust my veil with surprisingly gentle hands.
"My son has many faults, Claire—ruthlessness, stubbornness, and an infuriating habit of taking over every room he enters. But the moment he brought you into this family, I knew you were the only soul in Boston strong enough to tame him."
"Thank you, Elena," I said softly, feeling a lump form in my throat.
"For everything." "Now," she smiled, stepping back as the grand organ began to play the opening notes of the bridal march.
"Let’s go show Boston what a real queen looks like." When the heavy oak doors of the sanctuary swung open, the collective intake of breath from three hundred guests echoed softly through the vaulted ceilings. At the far end of the long aisle stood Dominic. He wore a tailored black tuxedo that fit his broad shoulders to perfection.
His dark hair was neatly brushed, and his rugged, handsome face was completely stripped of its usual stoic armor.
As his gray eyes locked onto mine walking down the aisle, I saw the exact moment his breath caught. The entire world seemed to fade away—the politicians, the business tycoons, the syndicate associates, the armed guards stationed discreetly near the exits
. There was only Dominic, watching me approach as if I were the only light in his entire universe. When I finally reached the altar, Dominic stepped forward, taking my trembling hands in his large, warm palms. His touch grounded me instantly. "You look breathtaking," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion for only me to hear.
"You clean up pretty well yourself, Mr. Valenti," I whispered back, a radiant smile breaking across my face. As the priest began the ceremony, reading traditional vows of love, loyalty, and protection through sickness and health, I knew our vows carried a weight far heavier than most couples ever experienced.

We had met in a mafia boss's bedroom under threat of death, bound by a fake engagement forged in lies and survival. Now, standing before God, our families, and the city we had conquered together, our love was the most undeniable truth in the world.
When the priest finally pronounced us husband and wife and Dominic pulled back my veil to claim my lips in a deep, passionate, soul-shaking kiss, the entire church erupted into thunderous applause. We weren't just surviving anymore. We had won.
