Chapter 4 - The InjunctionThe morning of the Atelier Whitmore press conference arrived under a blanket of heavy, gray clouds.

The Grand Sovereign Ballroom—the very room where Elena’s dress had been torn three days earlier—had been transformed. A massive white runway stretched through the center, surrounded by three hundred seats reserved for international fashion editors, high-net-worth buyers, and major news outlets.

At 9:45 AM, fifteen minutes before the event was scheduled to begin, the side doors crashed open.

A team of four men in dark suits, led by a stern man carrying a red legal folder, marched down the aisle. Behind them stood Julian Sinclair, looking triumphant, accompanied by Vanessa, who was wearing a bright white power suit, her eyes glowing with arrogant anticipation.

"Stop everything!" the man with the red folder announced loudly, his voice echoing across the loudspeakers. "I am Bailiff Thomas from the Federal District Court. I am serving an emergency cease-and-desist order and a preliminary injunction against Atelier Whitmore!"

The room went instantly chaotic. Camera flashes exploded like lightning. Journalists scrambled for their microphones, leaning forward in their seats.

"On what grounds?" asked the event director, running forward in a panic.

"On the grounds of wholesale copyright theft and trade secret infringement," Julian Sinclair declared, stepping up to the stage microphone without permission. He turned to face the room, his voice booming. "The designs about to be featured today were stolen from Chloe Vance, a former lead designer who was unlawfully terminated after refusing to sign away her intellectual property to Miss Elena Whitmore!"

Vanessa stepped up beside her father, casting a sharp look toward the backstage curtain.

"We are here to protect artistic integrity!" Vanessa called out, her voice loud and melodramatic. "It isn't enough that this family uses their wealth to bully smaller businesses! Now they steal from independent artists and pretend it's luxury! Where is Elena Whitmore? Let her come out and face the court!"

The crowd buzzed with breathless excitement. Reporters were already typing frantically on their laptops.

“Whitmore Heiress Accused of Massive Fraud!”

“Sinclair Global Halts Atelier Launch!”

From behind the heavy velvet curtain, Elena stood quietly. She was dressed in a simple, perfectly tailored black jumpsuit, her hair pulled back into a sleek, elegant ponytail.

"Miss Elena," her assistant whispered nervously. "The judge really signed the temporary order. If you walk out there and showcase the designs, you could be held in contempt of court."

"The judge signed the order based on sworn affidavits provided by Julian Sinclair and Chloe Vance," Elena said calmly. "Which means they have committed perjury on federal record."

"Are you ready?" Julian Vance asked, leaning over her shoulder.

"Open the curtains," Elena commanded.

The heavy velvet drapes swept aside.

Elena walked out onto the runway alone. She didn't have a security team shielding her. She didn't have a legal team shouting. She walked with effortless grace, stopping right at the edge of the stage, looking down at Julian and Vanessa Sinclair.

The room fell into an immediate, dramatic hush.

"Miss Whitmore," the bailiff said, stepping forward. "You have been served. You must order the immediate evacuation of this runway and surrender all digital design files."

Elena looked at the bailiff, then turned her gaze directly to Vanessa.

"Vanessa," Elena said softly, her voice crystal clear through her lapel microphone. "You really never learn, do you?"

"Save your speeches for the judge!" Vanessa spat back, though a flicker of doubt flashed across her face at Elena's absolute composure. "You're a thief, Elena. You thought your father's name could buy you talent. But you can't buy originality!"

"I don't need to buy originality," Elena replied smoothly. "Because unlike you, I keep receipts."

Elena raised her hand and snapped her fingers once.

The massive LED screen behind the runway—which was supposed to display the brand logo—suddenly flickered to life.
