Chapter 2 - The EnvelopeOliver stared at the sealed envelope.

His breathing became uneven.

"What document?"

Nobody answered.

My father slowly pushed the envelope across the table.

"You recognize your own handwriting."

Oliver didn't move.

"I don't."

The senior partner from his law firm, Charles Whitmore, quietly removed his glasses.

"I do."

Oliver turned toward him.

"Charles..."

"You don't understand."

Charles interrupted.

"I understand far more than you think."

The retired judge calmly broke the seal.

Inside...

A notarized postnuptial agreement.

Signed four years earlier.

My signature.

Oliver's signature.

Witnessed.

Notarized.

I frowned.

"I've never seen this."

My father looked at me.

"Because you never signed it."

The detective added,

"Your signature was forged."

Oliver laughed nervously.

"This is ridiculous."

"You can't prove that."

The detective quietly slid another folder across the table.

"We already did."

Inside...

A forensic handwriting report.

Conclusion:

Emma Grant did not sign this document.

Charles slowly picked up the agreement.

"I reviewed this."

Oliver's eyes widened.

"What?"

"It crossed my desk three years ago."

"You approved it."

Charles shook his head.

"No."

"I rejected it."

Silence.

May you like

"I marked it as fraudulent."

Oliver's face turned pale.
